Our Programs
1
NYSBMA
Summit
NYSBMA hosts its flagship statewide conference bringing together student board members from across New York for a day of hands-on governance training, leadership development, and networking. The Summit features workshops, speakers, and collaborative sessions designed to equip student leaders with the knowledge and confidence to lead effectively.
2
Winter & Spring Convenings
NYSBMA hosts two smaller convenings during the year, one in the winter and one in the spring. These sessions provide opportunities for student board members to reconnect, share experiences, and dive deeper into specific topics like equity, communication, and board collaboration.

Ongoing Training
Series
Throughout the year, NYSBMA offers virtual webinars and learning sessions that focus on practical skills and emerging topics in education governance. Led by youth experts, education leaders, and experienced student board members, these sessions cover areas like policy engagement, leadership skills, effective advocacy, and representing diverse student voices.
District/Local Training & Consulting
NYSBMA partners directly with local associations, school/component districts, and boards of education to train and support student representatives. Our youth-led approach combines firsthand experience, governance expertise, and an understanding of New York State education policy to ensure every student board member is prepared to lead confidently and represent their peers effectively.
